Idlewild - Make Another World

Been looking forward to this new album for so long... the last album Warnings/Promises veered a bit too much into MOR territory, but this one is supposed to be a return to form.

Having seen idlewild 6 times its fair to say im a big fan. I have all my finger and toes crossed as the cd is put into my pc. I'll let you know.

But heres the excellent first single, if it takes you home:

Hadouken!

What a way to return...

Hadouken!

Already quite widely tipped, but this song is immense.
Its two parts grime, one part Pitchshifter, one part glowstick.

Ah sod descriptions, just turn it up LOUD and blow the speakers...

This weeks band I first saw in one of those odd moments where your brain goes "I should make a note of this."

Battant.

They were supporting Ladytron up here in 2005, and I literally went, 'whoa, these are gonna be big'. I bought their ep and it was brilliant.

Not only that, but they are extremely nice people, and even gave me advice for my first solo gig.

Sounding like an electro band with added funk, and with a singer that reminds me of all the best things about Siouxie Sioux (especially on stage).

This weeks band is the brilliant Breed 77.
Its metal but with added flamenco guitars...seriously.

Saw them live on Saturday and they were amazing, they can really perform this (singing included) exactly as it sounds on cd. They are sadly underrated.

They have a new album out last week, but this is the best song from their second album. You'll believe that flamenco guitars can be part of metal, oh yes.

Let me know what you think!

Hello, its "Famous Rob" from the Ad-Pit here...

So many people I know complain that they never bother to check out new or interesting music. This blog is designed to provide with one new track/album/video a week to view and increase your musical boundaries.

This is specifically aimed at Northern Planner, who has made a target of hearing one new band a week on his Lets See What Happens Pledges.

This weeks band is:

The Klaxons

Sounding like Indie Disco raised on acid house parties. Odd but completely brilliant. What do you think to this week's band?
